Lushnja Municipality is a municipality in Fier Region in Albania. Since 1992 until today, Lushnja has been led by 6 mayors since the collapse of communism. The first mayor of the Lushnja Municipality after the collapse of communism was Kujtim Haxhiu, elected by the people with free democratic elections in 1992 as a PD candidate He had held this position for four years until 1996 when his successor was Agim Fuga of the DP in 1996-2000. Later, this post was held by Ylli Mufti, SP candidate since 2000 until 2003 when elected to this post was Kadri Gega of DP.
He led the city from 2003 to 2007. From 2007 to 2011, this post was held by Albert SMD's Sandzak after the alliance that this party did with the SP.With the 8 May 2011 elections this task is held Fatos Tushe of the Socialist Party until 2015. He was re-elected Mayor for a second term in the June 21, 2015 elections. For Lushnja, this was an innovation, as in the history of 25 years of democracy, no mayor could defeat win twice in a row, even though they have been re-nominated
